you. After working for 40 years as a Design Engineer with a large Chemical Company I found retirement quite difficult to accept. I did consultancy work for a further 5 years before finally accepting that retirement was inevitable. I needed to find something to keep my mind and body active. The latter was achieved by walking and gardening but keeping the mind active was much more difficult - you can only do so many crosswords.
I decided to try my hand at watercolour painting as I had a good aptitude for sketching and perspective because of my profession. I found it difficult at first as watercolours can be very unforgiving but I stuck at it and now find it both relaxing and rewarding. I have no subject that I specialise in, I only paint what I think will make a pleasant composition irrespective of the subject. Many of my early paintings are based on works by famous artists but this was only to enable me to learn from their works. I now paint my own works and these are mainly portraits of family and friends. I paint purely for pleasure and enjoyment.
comment, any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Wonderful paintings John. I took the time to look carefully to all your paintings and you are very talented. I like them very much. I hope to see soon many more.
